About Me

My name is Max van Zyl, and I’m a first-year M.Sc. student in computational/theoretical chemistry, working under the supervision of Dr. Farnaz Heidar-Zadeh (who just so happens to be the Chapter’s Faculty Advisor). I also completed my undergraduate degree in chemistry here at Queen’s University, but I hail from a small town in Nova Scotia.

I’ve been involved with Q-ACS since its founding (March 2022), having served initially as the Secretary, and now, since April 2024, as Vice-President. In my free time, I like to indulge in various hobbies, such as playing soccer, going for runs, and singing in cappella competitions on campus. Here’s to looking forward to the Chapter’s continued vibrancy and success!
