About Me

My name is Max van Zyl, and I’m a first-year M.Sc. student in computational/theoretical chemistry, working under the supervision of Dr. Farnaz Heidar-Zadeh (who just so happens to be the Chapter’s Faculty Advisor). I also completed my undergraduate degree in chemistry here at Queen’s University, but I hail from a small town in Nova Scotia.

I’ve been involved with Q-ACS since its founding (March 2022), having served initially as the Secretary, and now, since April 2024, as Vice-President. In my free time, I like to indulge in various hobbies, such as playing soccer, going for runs, and singing in a cappella competitions on campus. Here’s to looking forward to the Chapter’s continued vibrancy and success!
