About the event

The Queen’s University International Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society (Q-ACS) is excited to host the ACS International Historic Chemical Landmark Ceremony at Queen’s University, honoring the late Dr. Alfred R. Bader on May 8th, 2026. This prestigious event will culminate with the unveiling of a commemorative ACS Landmark plaque, followed by a networking luncheon. 


The ceremony will be held in CHE 117 (Chernoff Hall) at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 8th, 2026, followed by a complimentarynetworking lunch in the Chernoff first-floor atrium

The ceremony will celebrate the extraordinary legacy of Dr. Bader, a beloved Queen’s alumnus and benefactor, distinguished chemist, accomplished entrepreneur, and generous philanthropist, whose impact continues to resonate across the fields of science, business, and the arts. 


Over the past four years, a dedicated group of individuals, organizations, and stakeholders has worked diligently to ensure that Dr. Bader’s life and achievements are formally recognized through this historic award, marking the first ACS Landmark designation in Canada in the past two decades.
