ACS Historic Chemical International Landmark Ceremony:
Dr. Alfred R. Bader & Sigma-Aldrich
On May 8th, 2026, the Queen's University International Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society (Q-ACS) will lead the ACS International Historic Chemical Landmark Ceremony at Queen's University. This prestigious event will honour the extraordinary contributions of the late Dr. Alfred R. Bader, a distinguished chemist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and beloved benefactor, whose legacy continues to influence the fields of science, business, and the arts.

The ceremony will culminate with the unveiling of the commemorative Landmark plaque, followed by a networking luncheon. This designation is part of the ACS Historic Chemical Landmarks Program, which celebrates accomplishments that have had a lasting impact on both the scientific community and society at large.
The Landmark Ceremony, coinciding with the Bader and Overton National Piano Competition, will explore the broader significance of ACS Landmark designations, along with Dr. Bader's contributions to chemistry. It is noteworthy that the last such Landmark designation in Canada took place exactly 20 years ago.
